Administrative / Biographical history
William Charles Piguenit was born on 27 August 1836 at Hobart Town and educated at Cambridge House Academy. Noted for his drawing, mapping and penmanship he was appointed a draftsman in the Survey Office in 1850. He resigned in 1872 and travelling through Tasmania, devoted himself to landscape painting.
