May Pollard was the daughter of James Joseph Pollard who formed 'Pollard's Liliputian [i.e. Lilliputian] Opera Company' in Launceston, 1880. The company performed popular operettas, touring Australia and the colonies, with May as one of the leading singers. She later starred in many operettas produced by J. C.
