Rough journal, 1845-1850 covers his first years of service at Plymouth and in various ships. The Ringdove operated in the expedition against the Sultan of Bruni, and both the Agincourt and the Iris conducted operations against Malay pirates and the Iris took part in the annexation of Labuan.
