Return to an address to His Majesty, dated 21 February 1833;--for, accounts from the respective treasurers of counties in England and Wales, of the several sums received by them for county rates, during the years 1821, 1822, 1823, 1824, 1825, 1826, 1827, 1828, 1829, 1830, 1831 and 1832, with statements of the application thereof, under the following heads; viz.: bridges, building and repairs; bridgemaster or county surveyor, salary and other charges; clerk of the peace, fees and emoluments, law bills, and other charges; constables (high), salaries and other charges thereof; constables (special), charges thereof; coroners, charges thereof; debt, amount and interest thereof; debt (principal) discharged; lunatic asylums, building and repairs, salaries of officers, and other expenses thereof; militia, expenses thereof charged on the county stock; prisons: gaol, building and repairs; salaries and gratuities of gaoler and other officers; clothing, maintaining, and employing prisoners; houses of correction: building and repairs; salaries and gratuities of keepers and other officers; clothing, maintaining and employing prisoners; lock-up-houses, building and repairs, and other expenses thereof; prisoners, apprehending and conveying transports, conveying for embarkation; prosecutions, costs of at the assizes, specifying the number; costs of at the quarter sessions, specifying the number; shire hall and courts of justice, building, repairs, and maintenance; parliamentary returns, expense of making; parliamentary representation, expenses incurred under 2 Will. IV. c. 45 and 64; population (1831) returns, expense of making; treasurer, salary and other charges; vagrants, apprehending and conveying, and specifying the number, distinguishing the Scotch and Irish from other vagrants; incidental expenses, distinguishing the ordinary from the extraordinary [electronic resource].
