Public houses (Ireland). Return to an order of the honourable the House of Commons, dated 18 March 1872;--for, return, for the year ending the 31st day of March 1871, in a tabular form, of the following particulars respecting the houses licensed for the sale of intoxicating liquors in Ireland, showing: 1st. Public-houses licensed under magistrates' certificates; 2nd. Licenses to retail wine for consumption on the premises, but not beer or spirits; 3rd. Licenses to retail beer, but not spirits, and only for consumption off the premises; 4th. Licenses to retail spirits, but only for consumption off the premises; 5th. All other licenses to retail intoxicating liquors not included in the foregoing:--these particulars being given: 1st. As respects every city, town, and borough under the government of a mayor and corporation, and showing also the population of each respectively, as ascertained by the census of 1871; 2nd. As respects every borough, or town, or township under the government of town commissioners, with the population, as above; 3rd. As respects every town and village having a population of 500 persons, according to the census of 1871, stating the population, as before; 4th. As respects the portion of each county not included in the foregoing, the whole being arranged under the heading of the several counties of Ireland, and the totals for each county to be given, as well as the totals for all Ireland; in those cases in which a corporate city or town extends into two counties, the two parts to be given separately [electronic resource].
