First published in Mercator's Atlas sive Cosmographicae (1595), this popular map is by Gerard Mercator, younger, ca. 1565-1656. Based on Mercator's world map 1569, it carries Ortelius' 1570 Asian cartography unchanged into 1633 through the numerous Mercator / Hondius Atlas editions.
