Henry Lawson, poet and short-story writer was born at Grenfell, N.S.W., in 1867. Lawson's poems were first published in The Bulletin in 1887 and a short story was published in 1888. After Lawson's death in 1922, a memorial statue, funded by public subscription, was erected in Sydney in his honour
