New South Wales component of the collection was donated by H. L. White in 1917, the Queensland and West Australian stamps were donated in June 1921, and the postage stamps of Tasmania were presented by H. V. Hordern (daughter) in July 1922

Henry Luke White (1860-1927) began collecting stamps in 1871 but spent much of his life managing the family estates of Edinglassie and Belltrees in the Hunter Valley. He became a noted ornithologist and philatelist and with guidance from Sydney stamp-dealer Fred Hagen, he began building an extensive specialised collection of postage stamps from all...
