Arthur William Beresford Newling, a clerk of Gladesville, N.S.W., enlisted with the 14th Battalion, Field Artillery Brigade, A.I.F aged 24, Nov. 1916 and embarked on HMAT Marathon 10 May 1917. He served in France and returned to Australia on S.S. Frankfurt, July 1919
