Administrative / Biographical history
Sir Walter Leonard, former chairman of Ampol Petroleum, was born in Grafton, New South Wales, in 1915. He joined Ampol in 1938 as a clerk, but was in the RAAF 1942-1945 in bomber command and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. He re-joined Ampol and rose to Chairman in 1970. He was also a director of CRA, the Australian Industry Development...
