Administrative / Biographical history
Isaac Nathan (1792-1864) was born in Canterbury, England, and educated at the Cambridge Academy. Well-known as a composer and a friend of Lord Byron, he emigrated to Australia in 1841. He soon became choral director at St Mary's Cathedral in Sydney. For the next twenty years, Nathan dominated the Australian musical scene as a composer, teacher, org...
