Administrative / Biographical history
William Carron (1821-1876), botanist and explorer, accompanied Edmund Kennedy's ill-fated expedition to travel overland from Rockingham Bay, Queensland to Cape York in 1848. Carron was one of only three survivors. In 1866 he was appointed collector for the Sydney Botanic Gardens.
