The pen and wash 'Sketch of the island of Pitcairn taken onboard the H.M.S. Comet on the 28th February 1831' is signed J.B.B.
Attributions / Conjectures
Initially believed to be the private journal of Alexander Sandilands, captain of H.M.S. Comet, however comparison with microfilm copies of the ships log in Sandilands' hand together with differences in spelling of various names and places suggests that the journal is in a different hand.
