A collection of 37 prints relating to James Cook. There are 25 portraits of Cook, eight images of the ‘Death of Cook’ and four images of medals or eulogies with Cook’s portrait. The images include copper, stipple, steel and wood engravings and lithographs, dating from 1777 to 1854.

Administrative / Biographical history
Samuel Cousins R.A. (1801-1887) was an English mezzotint engraver. He was elected a full member of the Royal Academy in 1885 and is regarded as one of the most important figures in the history of British engraving. Several of these portraits were collected by Cousins. See drawing no. 14.
