Collection history
The papers were found in a house purchased by the donor's parents, Mr and Mrs Moase. The house was previously the residence of Archdeacon Whitington, the author of the first biography of Bishop Broughton.
Administrative / Biographical history
Frederic Taylor Whitington (1853-1938) was ordained an Anglican priest in Adelaide in 1879. He was appointed Rector of St John's Church, New Town, and Archdeacon of Hobart in 1895, and remained in this position until his retirement in 1923. Whitington's biography of William Grant Broughton was published by Angus & Robertson in 1936.
