Administrative / Biographical history
In the 1950s, Edna M. Renouf and her husband ran The Main Hotel in Bairnsdale (Vic.), which was patronised by the writer Hal Porter. Renouf was a widow and retiree living in Queensland at the time Porter wrote to her. The first letter, ? Feb. 1981?, is from Garvoc (Vic.) and the remaining ones are from Porter's new residence at Ballarat (Vic.).
