Captain Austin Jayne lived in Smithton, Long Island, New York. He was born 2 September 1831. He came to Melbourne in November 1864 as Captain, and stayed hoping to sell the bark at auction. As the auction was unsuccessful he hoped to get freight in Singapore or China.
