The Khokhlov-Zabolotskaya-Kuznetsov model is a PDE describing the wave profile of an acoustic beam in a nonlinear medium. The paper treats the existence and uniqueness questions for this equation in the case of nonconstant coefficients. For the case of rapidly oscillating coefficients the asymptotic behavior of the solution is studied.
