Our results indicate that the acetolactate synthase (ALS) is uncommon in the foliage of Old World climbing fern (Lygodium microphyllum; OWCF). We were unable to isolate the ALS enzyme in six of nine samples tested. Our results using an in vitro ALS assay indicates that metsulfuron is effective at blocking the ALS enzyme in OWCF under lab conditions...
