Rationale Mechanical ventilation unload the respiratory muscles in order to prevent development of muscle injury and patient discomfort. Methods We included 31 mechanically ventilated adult ICU patients with a dedicated naso-gastric feeding tube for assessing diaphragmatic EMG activity (EAdi catheter).
