J.S.C. Elkington was born at Castlemaine, Victoria in 1871. He graduated in medicine in his early twenties and was a lifelong advocate of public medicine. He had a great interest in art and literature and wrote regularly for the Bulletin, to whose editor, J.F. Archibald, he introduced Norman Lindsay. He encouraged other artistic and literary figure...
