General note

The clock, said to be Cooks and to have been taken by him on his third voyage, was presented to the Mitchell Library by Mrs A. E. Lane, widow of John Lane of Bodley Head Publishing Company. Reference: letter and note in James Cook's - Miscellaneous material (A 1713-6, p. 325-327).

Signature / Inscriptions

Inscription on brass plaque reads 'This clock belonged to Captain James Cook the Navigator and made the voyage round the world with him in 1779'.
