Silvester Diggles (1817-1880) was born in Liverpool, England and became a naturalist, artist and musician. He arrived in Australia with his family in 1853 to Sydney and in 1855 moved to Brisbane where he became prominent in music and scientific circles, teaching both drawing and music and repairing musical instruments.
