Administrative / Biographical history

Captain Walter Synnot (1773-1851) from the 66th Regiment of Foot (Berkshire) served with the regiment in Newfoundland, Nova Scotia and Jamaica. Retired and migrated to South Africa in 1820, returned to Ireland in 1825. He arrived in Tasmania in 1826 with his third wife Mary Jane, nee Mather.
