The Hornsby Ku-ring-gai Hearing Impaired Group was launched from the ideas of Mary Sparke, with a public meeting at Hornsby Shire Council Chambers on 10 March, 1981. The group aimed to provide a rehabilitation program to meet the needs of people who have acquired a hearing loss after the development of speech and language.
