Edward Herbert (Ted) Farmer (1909-2001), architect, was born in Perth, W.A., the only child of Herbert Farmer, public servant, and Alice May, nee Thistlethwaite. His parents separated before his first birthday, and he and his mother went to live with his maternal grandmother and maiden aunts, Isabella, Ethel and Edith Thistlethwaite, in Melbourne....
