The authorship of this medal has been variously assigned. William Barnett, the gem engraver, and Edward Burch, R.A., have each been named as its designer, apparently because the medal bears the initials B:F. But a pamphlet published at Birmingham in 1926, entitled "Matthew Boulton's Otaheite medal" proves that Matthew Boulton, of Boulton and Fothe...
