Max Kelly (1935-1996) joined Macquarie University in 1971, in 1986 he became associate professor, teaching economic and urban history. He was president of the NSW National Trust from 1986-1988 and became the first president of the History Council of NSW in 1995 -- Sydney Morning Herald, 15 Aug 1996 (Obituaries p. 32)
