Elizabeth Jolley was born as Monica Elizabeth Knight in Birmingham, England in 1923. She was educated in Europe and England, and attended the Quaker Sibford School near Banbury, Oxfordshire, 1934-1940. Writing from an early age, she completed an unpublished novel ca.1939. She left school in 1940 and worked as a nurse during the Second World War. In...
