Alfred George Crump was a trustee in the estate of Matilda Mary Symons, the widow of Robert Symons from whom she inherited large holdings of real estate; her solicitor was Gilbert Curtis Murdoch. The Symons estate included properties in Balmain, Rozelle (White Bay Hotel), Ultimo (Duke of Edinburgh Hotel), Ashfield, Rockdale, Mosman and Narrabeen.
