Sidney Myer Music Bowl designed and built by Barry Patten and Yuncken, Freeman, features a noise-deflecting canopy of satin aluminium supported by a 568 ft., 40 ton cable moored over two 70 ft. steel and fibreglass masts. It was opened Feb 1959 at a cost of &A200,000 (Australian News & Information Bureau)
