Acquired at Christie's, London, auction, 13 December 2006, lot 39. Formerly in the possession of Arthur James Lewis whose bookplate is attached. Christie's catalogue states that this book was a gift from Quentin Keynes (1921-2003), Darwin's great grandson, to his doctor.
