Administrative / Biographical history
The Sydney Underwriters' Association, formed in 1876, was incorporated in 1885. In 1898, following the acquisition of salvage plant the Association became the Sydney Marine Underwriters' & Salvage Association Limited. The Association ceased operation in 1975 when the Insurance Council of Australia became responsible for State activities.
