Date note
Samuel Cook, who was the 2nd general manager of John Fairfax. He replaced Hugh George 1878- 1886 in 1887, and in 1907 was replaced by W.G. Conley. The biggest change in the 20 years Cook managed was the mechanization of typesetting, starting with the introduction of Hattersley type-setting and type-replacing machines in 1895
