Geoffrey Vaughan Rose, clerk of Petersham, Sydney was born in Warren, New South Wales. He enlisted 24 Aug. 1916 at the age of 20 and embarked from Sydney on board HMAT SS Port Napier 17 Nov. 1916. He was a signaller with the 30th Battalion, 11th Reinforcement in France and Belgium, and returned to Australia 5 July 1919
