Major James Taylor arrived N.S.W. 9.8.1817 so this I. Taylor is probably James Taylor. No signed Taylor originals in Mitchell Library or Dixson 1957 for comparison. S. Mourot 1949

Date note
St. Phillip's round tower completed 1807. If building on top of hill is Rum Hospital (mill stood where Governor Phillip's statue now stands), completed March 1816, it places picture between that date and end 1817 as foundation stone of Fort Macquarie laid December 1817, building completed 1819.
