Harry and Oceana (“Oce”) Newton Scott built their 44-foot wooden wishbone ketch, New Silver Gull, on weekends and began to live aboard in ca.1944. In December 1947, when Harry Newton Scott was 60, Harry left his business as a civil engineer and surveyor - by Oce's account, spontaneously - and the couple began a 12-year cruise which took in the Paci...
