1833-1869;  Maps.  1. 'A general chart for the purpose of laying down a ship's track on her voyage from England to the East or West Indies or the Pacific Ocean. Additions to 1852 - by J.W.  Norrie, Hydrographer etc., 1833.' First published  in 1833 by Norrie, this chart has additions to 1852 and is by Charles Wilson. It was used to plot the tracks of Emmeline Leslie's various voyages betewen Australia and England between 1851 and 1869.    2. 'Sketch map  of the North Island of New Zealand shewing native tribal boundaries, topographical features, confiscated lands, military & police stations etc., drawn by T. W. Palin, Defence Office, Wellington, 1869. Annotated by Emmeline Leslie with reference to the Leslie family's holdings on the Waikato and nearby.

Series 1: Emmeline Leslie papers concerning the Leslie family

Contains mainly letters (with some printed circulars) predominantly addressed to James Mitchell with some addressed to Augusta Mitchell, that relate to appointments, general news and public events, lettes of introduction, samples of wool, ownership of land and property, patients, original list of subscribers for a plate to be presented to James Mitchell, and  Mitchell's Tram Road Act of 1851. Correspondents include: John Macarthur, Alexander Macleay, C. Knightley, Sir Edward Parry, J. Bowman, Judges Burton and Willis, Bishop Broughton, Thomas Brisbane, Colonel Barney, P.P. King, J.S.
