Commission appointing Lord Wakehurst Governor of NSW with associated letters patent, royal instructions and other documents;  Grant appointing Lord Wakehurst a member of the Knights Commander of the Order of St Michael and St George with associated documents;  Commission  appointing Sir David Anderson administrator of the Commonwealth of Australia. 1945;  'Tour of northern and forward war areas in and beyond Australia'. (From 14 March to 4 April 1945 Lord and Lady Wakehurst visited Northern Territory, North Queensland, New Guinea and other operational areas). Includes official and personal diaries as well as photographs of Lord and Lady Wakehurst, Lady Blamey, Australian troops and dead Japanese soldiers. Also includes maps (marked 'secret') of Darwin, Atherton, Lae, Aitape, New Britain and Bougainville showing command structures and locations of Australian armed forces. Two unmarked maps of the East Indies and the South West Pacific are also included together with two  watercolours of Hollandia, New Guinea by Harvey Hall of the Engineers.  (Call No.: MLMSS 6347/1. 1937-1945;  'No. 22 Squadron (City of Sydney) RAAF'. (Lord Wakehurst was Honorary Air Commodore of this squadron). Includes correspondence, monthly operations reports, newscuttings, photograph. Also includes a silk map of New Guinea and adjacent islands issued to RAAF air crews and two booklets: Instructions to air crews -  notes on living and travelling in New Guinea and Friendly fruits and vegetables.
