IEEE802.15.4g is a low-power wireless standard initially designed for Smart Utility Networks, i.e., for connecting smart meters. IEEE802.15.4g operates at sub-GHz frequencies to offer 2–3× longer communication range compared to its 2.4 GHz counterpart. Although the standard offers 3 PHYs (Frequncy Shift Keying, Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing and Offset-Quadrature Phase Shift Keying) with numerous configurations, 2-FSK at 50 kbps is the mandatory and most prevalent radio setting used. This article looks at whether IEEE802.15.4g can be used to provide connectivity for outdoor deployments. We conduct range measurements using the totality of the standard (all modulations with all further parametrization) in the 863–870 MHz band, within four scenarios which we believe cover most low-power wireless outdoor applications: line of sight, smart agriculture, urban canyon, and smart metering. We show that there are radio settings that outperform the “2-FSK at 50 kbps” base setting in terms of range, throughput and reliability. Results show that highly reliable communications with data rates up to 800 kbps can be achieved in urban environments at 540 m between nodes, and the longest useful radio link is obtained at 779 m. We discuss how IEEE802.15.4g can be used for outdoor operation, and reduce the number of repeater nodes that need to be placed compared to a 2.4 GHz solution.

Evaluation of IEEE802.15.4g for Environmental Observations

 The planning and implementation of legal units of environmental management have been conflicting, generating social and economic predicaments. These conflicts generate cognitive, emotional and affective movements, that somehow contribute to learning with the operation. The Environmental Education, as a mediating process, enables the collective construction of the sustainable development process for the productive sectors, with an open methodological proposal, whose model is to generate solutions from social participation. In this sense, it is understood that Environmental Education is a process of educational praxis that aims at building values, attitudes, concepts, skills, standards, knowledge and shared practices for the constructing a style of thinking that contributes to environmental citizenship. Trying to understand and contribute with this social dynamics, have been conducted, from 2001 to 2006, numerous and multiple environmental teaching actions in the highlands region of Santa Catarina. This movement resulted in the development of an open model of environmental education which is mediated by the environmental perception of social actors involved, understanding perception as the integration of biological, psychological and social dimensions. Thus, the proposition for the Open Model of Environmental Education with the paradigm of transdisciplinary opening mediated by the environmental perception of social actors involved will result in the collective construction of solutions to local environmental problems.
O planejamento e a implantação de unidades legais de gestão ambiental tem sido conflituosas, gerando impasses sociais e econômicos. Esses conflitos geram movimentos cognitivos, emocionais e afetivos que de alguma forma contribuem para o aprender com o operar. A Educação ambiental, como um processo mediador, possibilita a construção coletiva do processo de desenvolvimento sustentável para os setores produtivos, com uma proposta metodológica aberta, cujo modelo é gerar soluções a partir da participação social. Neste sentido, entende-se que a educação ambiental é um processo de práxis educativa, que tem por finalidade a construção de valores, atitudes, conceitos, habilidades, normas, saberes e práticas partilhadas para a construção de um estilo de pensamento que contribua para a cidadania ambiental. Buscando compreender e contribuir com essa dinâmica social foram realizadas inúmeras e múltiplas ações pedagógicas de educação ambiental na região serrana de Santa Catarina de 2001 a 2006. Esse movimento resultou na elaboração de um modelo aberto de educação ambiental que é mediado pela percepção ambiental dos atores sociais envolvidos, entendendo percepção como a integração das dimensões biológicas, psicológicas e sociais. Assim, a proposição do Modelo Aberto de Educação Ambiental, com o paradigma da abertura transdisciplinar mediado pela percepção ambiental dos atores sociais envolvidos resultará na construção coletiva das soluções para os problemas ambientais locais.

Open model for environmental education

Conclusion: The need for a multidisciplinary treatment is proposed that considers an accompaniment in the process of occupational adaptation, especially in the early stages after diagnosis in order to prevent the impact on the quality of life of this population, as well as the need to develop more studies on the subject. [...]the process of population aging that has occurred intensively in Chile, allows us to foresee a rapid increase in the prevalence of this type of health problem. The research is part of the theoretical and philosophical bases of Occupational Therapy in which occupation is a dynamic process typical of our condition as human beings, through which we maintain the organization of our body and mind (Wilcock, 2006). Research that has addressed CKD from a bio-psycho-social perspective, accounts for the burden on quality of life (Barros-Higgins et al., 2015; Goto, 2017; GonzálezTamajón et al., 2020), as well as alterations at the emotional level, such as anxiety and depression (Rojas-Villegas et al., 2017; Goto, 2017), especially in people who are in the terminal stage of this disease, TCKD, which, in turn, is associated with organic symptoms, and the limitations imposed both by the disease and by the hemodialysis treatment, especially a large amount of time and physical and emotional energy that these requirements, which has repercussions on social isolation (Perales -Montilla et al., 2016).

Occupational repercussions in people with end-stage chronic kidney disease who attend hemodialysis: an occupational justice framework

To determine the spatial-environmental characteristics of the districts which reported the largest number of homicides in Bogotá during the second semester of 2011, we undertook a descriptive-observational study within the framework of environmental criminology. The Questionnaire of Environmental Observation for the Spatial-Temporal Analysis of homicide in Bogotá was applied to 51 focal points of crime. The results show the predominance of spatial-environmental factors in the occurrence of homicide, backed by variables of the theory of disorder, territoriality, routine activity and the defendable space. As a consequence, the physical conditions seem to have facilitated the occurrence of crime and the perception of the potential murderer who is about to the commit one. These findings have enabled us to obtain empirical evidence for the development of strategies for the situational prevention of crime, and in particular, design defendable spaces, based on the implementation of differential multi-dimensional actions in the territory.
Para establecer las características espaciales-ambientales de zonas que durante el segundo semestre de 2011 registraron el mayor número de homicidios en Bogotá se realizó un estudio descriptivo-observacional, enmarcado en la criminología ambiental. Se aplicó el Cuestionario de Observación Ambiental para Análisis Espacio-Temporal del homicidio en Bogotá, en 51 puntos de concentración del crimen. Los resultados reflejan la predominancia espacial-ambiental en la ocurrencia del homicidio, soportados en variables de la teoría del desorden, de territorialidad, de rutina de actividad y del espacio defendible. En consecuencia, condiciones físicas parecen facilitar el delito y percepción del potencial homicida para cometerlo. Los hallazgos permiten obtener evidencia empírica para el desarrollo de estrategias de prevención situacional del delito y, en particular, el diseño de espacios defendibles, sustentados en la intervención del territorio con acciones multidimensionales diferenciales.

Aplicou-se o Questionário de Observação Ambiental para a Análise Espaço- -temporal do Homicídio em Bogotá em 51 pontos de concentração do crime. Os resultados refletem a predominância espaço-ambiental na ocorrência do homicídio, apoiado em variáveis da teoria da desordem, de territorialidade, de rotina de atividade e do espaço defendível. Em consequência, condições físicas parecem facilitar o delito e a percepção do potencial homicida para cometê-lo. As constatações permitem obter evidência empírica para o desenvolvimento de estratégias de prevenção situacional do delito e, em particular, o desenho de espaços defendíveis, apoiados na intervenção do território com ações multidimensionais diferenciais.
