The focus of this photograph is a group of 12 women and a girl, all but two of them dressed entirely in white, holding collection boxes labelled ‘Soldiers’ Day Appeal 1923.’ In the background two stalls and a chocolate wheel can be seen.

Anecdotes and a poem written by soldiers and compiled by A.G. Stephens, editor of the N.S.W. Anzac memorial which was published by the Returned Soldiers Association of New South Wales.  The short narratives were written on a form letter and intended to be published in the Anzac memorial book, but were received by the editor too late for publication. The authors are Pte. William Wiles, Pte. P. Whitty, Pte. J. Miller, R.J. Kenny, Corporal T.A.C. Barr and Pte. H.A. Britten
