Describes embarking from Melbourne on troop transport Afric, his voyage to Egypt, his training and sightseeing there and in England, experiences in camps in England, embarking for Boulogne 4 Sept. 1916, and his battlefield experiences in France including a stunt near Abbeville, his work as a telephonist, illness and treatment at the CCS at Poperinghe and 10th General Hospital and his return to Abbeville, the last entry reading 'went over the top, 4.20am'.
