Various negatives dealing with the career, especially the polar career, of Ernest Henry Shackleton.  One showing him as a Major in the Army during the North Russian campaign of 1919 in which a number of his companions , including Macklin and Worsley were involved.

1. Route followed by David Mawson and Murray to South Magnetic Pole, Shackleton 1907-09
2. This is probably quite a notable slide. It shows one of Shackleton’s night halts about half way up Beardmore Glacier during expedition of 1907-09.  It was somewhere near here that Frank Wild discovered the coal seams in the Beacon Sandston. 3, Shackleton as he appeared at the end of his long journey from Nimrod almost to the pole in 1907-09

5. Interesting because it illustrates the ancient practice of man-hauling sledges in Antarctica. 
6. Quite a remarkable slide of a caverned iceberg which also has a through archway. The photograph was taken in the Antarctic.  Bergs such as this are rare, although one often sees the incipient stage of ‘caverninisation’.
