Illuminated Address to Edward Knox on departure for England, 1877

Address reads: 'Dear Mr Knox, Before you leave Sydney on your projected trip to England we desire to convey to you our united feelings of respect and esteem and to express the hope that you may thoroughly enjoy the well earned repose you now seek. We look forward to having the pleasure ere long of once more welcoming you back to New South Wales. We cannot allow you to depart without thanking you most heartily for the great kindness and consideration you have invariably shewn us and expressing a regret at the severence of the daily intercourse with yourself which it has been our privilege to enjoy for so many years. Wishing Mrs Knox your family, and yourself, a peaceful and prosperous voyage. We remain yours most obediently.'
