McLeod, Close and Kay family collection of letters, drawings, autograph book, war diary and photographs, [ca. 1900-ca. 1925]

This collection of loose drawings, pen and ink, also pencil, illustrates a local man of Hurstville, New South Wales. ‘Hurstville Mac’, as he was known, father, doctor, diarist and cartoonist, who lived and worked in southern Sydney in the early twentieth century. The sketches, some with small notes and poems, document his locality, Hurstville, and friends and family, often in an amusing and witty way.  Most have been drawn on card 7.5 x 10 cm. and some on paper depicting caricatures and cartoons with comments.
