The photographs, taken on 2nd February at the height of the sensation, show the crowds of believers massed at Coogee Beach and headland, praying and kissing the site of the apparition, and placing offerings at the makeshift shrine. Photographs also show the Gallery Laundry, opposite the beach, which operated as a focal point during this period, selling memorabilia and providing information for visitors.
