13 negatives and 6 photographic prints of the aeroplane 'Southern Cross' flying over Canberra, a group of men in civilian clothes and airforce uniforms standing in front of the aeroplane on the tarmac, and people working on and around the aeroplane. The aeroplane was flown by Charles Kingsford Smith, with relief pilot Charles Ulm and crew members Harry Lyon and James Warner in the first trans-Pacific flight to Australia from mainland America in 1928. It was also flown in 1945 for the film, 'Smithy'.
