Michael D. Goddard 'The Petrel Papers: A journal issued on board the ship Parramatta during the voyage from London to Sydney 1882-3', along with additional pages concerning an earlier voyage, 1881-1882

1881;  Account of a voyage in 1881, being ten ms. pages mainly in verse, probably written by Captain Goddard and sent to his wife in England.  

1882;  "The Petrel Papers", being set of ms. weekly journals issued during voyage of the ship 'Parramatta' contained in a hard cover folder with ms. illustrations by passenger S.J.R. Edmonds.  The 'Parramatta' departed London 7 Oct. 1882 and arrived at Sydney on 3  Jan. 1883 under Captain Goddard.  Editor and compiler of the journal is unknown. The journals contain contributions from passengers and crew of the 'Parramatta' including reports of shipboard activities and entertainments;  details of ship's progress  including latitude, longitude, distances, temperature and barometer readings;  verse and stories written by passengers. Issues: No. 1 Saturday November 4, 1882, pp. 1-17;  No. 2 Saturday November 11, 1882, pp. 18-31;  No. 3 Saturday November 18, 1882, pp. 32-49;  No. 4 Saturday November 25, 1882, pp. 50-69;  No. 5 Saturday December 2, 1882, pp. 70-85;  No. 6 Saturday December 16, 1882, pp. 86-101a;  No. 7 December 23, 1882, pp. 101b-132.
