10 June 1779;  Printed will with ms. annotations of David Blackburn, Mariner on HMS Victory, in which he bequeaths his estate to his brothers and sisters and appoints his mother Executrix.
14 June 1783;  Payment order signed by David Blackburn requesting his agent, Benjamin Robertson, to pay Mr William McCurdy the sum of twenty pounds. Receipt acknowledged on reverse, dated 25 May 1796.
10 Feb. 1791;  London. Letter to Mrs Blackburn from her nephew Peter Martineau, in which he informs her of his meeting with Lieutenant King to enquire after David Blackburn. King spoke of Blackburn 'in the highest possible terms of esteem and friendship' and reported that Blackburn was now recovering from a rheumatic complaint which he had had on the voyage to Batavia. King was not able to account for the absence of any letters from Blackburn to his family and friends. 1 p.
27 Sept. 1793;  London. Autograph letter signed by David Blackburn to his friend Mr Richard Harper of Plymouth, announcing his appointment to H.M.S. Dictator and requesting that his possessions be sent to him at Chatham. 1 p. Annotated with list of possessions sent on 4 Oct. 1793. Also with letter from Mrs I. Harper to her husband written on reverse of Blackburn's letter.
8 Jan. 1795;  Union Hall. Letter to Margaret Blackburn from B. Robertson reporting that he had received a letter from David Blackburn on 24 Dec. on the Dictator at Portsmouth and that Robertson had posted her letter to him there. 1 p.
3 Feb. 1795 - 11 Mar. 1795;  A series of 16 letters collected by Margaret Blackburn with a note: 'Papers and letters relative to the Death of my dearest friend and brother David Blackburn who departed this life Janry 10th 1795'. Comprises 2 letters to Mrs Elizabeth Blackburn: 1 being from Lieutenant Thomas Pamp [Pamping?] (3 Feb. 1795) informing her of her son's death, with draft reply by Margaret Blackburn pleading for more information, and the other being from her sister, S. Martineau (7 Feb. 1795);  10 letters of condolence from family and friends to Margaret Blackburn: correspondents include sister Eliza Burrows, aunt S. Martineau, friends Laetitia and Richard Knight, and agent B. Robertson (2);  1 letter from Frances to Mr Burrows;  1 letter from John Martineau to his mother;  and 1 letter from Lieutenant Thomas Pamp to Mr W. Burrows/Mr Martineau.
11 Apr. 1796;  Courageux, St Fiorenzo Bay, Corsica. Letter from Mr Baron, Clerk of the Courageux, to Miss Elizabeth Blackburn [Mrs Eliza Burrows?], informing her of her brother's death [John Blackburn?] at Leghorn Hospital.
[1796?];  Incomplete letter unsigned [by Margaret Blackburn?] to unknown correspondent [Eliza Burrows?]. Refers to a Mr Angier, who called with a letter to certify the cause of death being 'a wound in the neck which took away part of the jawbone'. This is possibly referring to [John] Blackburn's death, reported in the letter from Mr Baron, 11 Apr. 1796. Also refers to Marsh and Creed, who were dealing with [John] Blackburn's estate.
