Contains substantial corrections and revisions and appears to be a draft of his journal. Covers the period 8 September to 25 December 1789 but almost entirely concerned with 24 and 25 December. In the margin of page 9 is a pen drawing of the 'island of ice' which caused the disaster. Probably written in the Cape of Good Hope in 1790
